Ascent Through Managed IT (ATMITE) gamifies the managed-IT career path
Picture a 19-year-old who wants a career in managed IT but doesn't know where to start. Most people hand them a stack of certification guides and wish them luck.
ATMITE takes a different angle. It models the actual career as five ranks of responsibility — Technician, System Owner, Consultant, Architect, Executive — with three mastery sublevels each. Each sublevel teaches the body of knowledge a real person at that rank would carry, drawn from CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Security+ / CySA+, CCNA, Microsoft Azure & 365, AWS fundamentals, Linux, and the executive-level pattern of strategy, risk, and operating model.
It's not a certification path. It's a knowledge progression model. By the end, you should be ready to (a) work in an MSP, (b) sit your current certification exam, and (c) for managers, onboard new staff dramatically faster.
The 5 ranks

Field Track — run a virtual small-business IT environment
The Field Track is the practical side of ATMITE. Instead of studying concepts in isolation, you step into the shoes of an MSP engineer supporting fictional 5–50 person businesses. Choose deep mode and fully administer one company, or switch to MSP mode and bounce between five different clients in a single session.
Each client has its own people, technology stack, network layout, and messy real-world gaps. You will troubleshoot tickets, close security holes, onboard and offboard staff, document runbooks, and raise the client's overall IT posture — all while earning XP that feeds back into your main profile.
- Nine practical areas: end-user support, Microsoft 365, identity & access, networking, security, devices & endpoints, SaaS administration, IT operations, and physical technology
- Guided diagnostic tickets with evidence, root-cause steps, and proper closure
- Optional AI-graded write-ups when you want to explain the fix in your own words
- Onboarding and offboarding runbooks for each client
- Posture scoring that rises as you secure, document, and improve the environment
How to use ATMITE
ATMITE is a learning tool. Work through the ranks and the Field Track at your own pace.
Look up answers, use AI, or search the web during quizzes — that investigation is part of the learning process, just like hands-on practice.
When you finish the first time, every lesson and quiz unlocks so you can start over. The real challenge is seeing how much you can complete with as little help as possible. You can also ask AI to generate extra questions for you. Progress is self-paced, self-disciplined, and self-motivated.
How XP works
- +10 XP per lesson completed
- +15 XP per "area to show initiative" you tick off
- +50 XP for passing a sublevel quiz (≥70%)
- +25 XP bonus for a perfect quiz
- Daily streaks unlock badges
Guest mode
You can use everything without signing in. Progress is saved only in your browser — clearing site data or switching devices wipes it. A synced account is on the roadmap.

Why this structure (and not just a cert ladder)?
ATMITE keeps the same industry knowledge surface as the CompTIA / Cisco / Microsoft / AWS career ladder, but reorganizes it around what a person at each rank actually does. Each sublevel now shows the certifications and knowledge domains it maps to, and there's a side-by-side comparison if you want the detail.
